A 58-year-old individual from Blind River, Ont. has died following a snowmobile crash on Marisea Lake, approximately 120 kilometres north of Thessalon.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the Algoma Paramedics Service responded to the scene of the single-vehicle collision involving a motorized snow vehicle at about 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
The victim was transported to a hospital in Thessalon but later succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased.
A postmortem examination is scheduled to take place in Sault Ste. Marie at a later date.
The OPP has not released further details about the circumstances surrounding the collision nor has any additional information about the victim yet been disclosed.
OPP Const. Bev Gauthier confirmed the police investigation into the crash is still ongoing in an email to CTV News.
