An employee at an outfitters store in Elliot Lake has been charged with 16 offences, including fraud and theft, after police examined footage from a security camera.
Ontario Provincial Police were alerted about the suspected thefts Aug. 26 and examined CCTV footage recorded from Aug. 10-18.
"Investigation determined an employee stole store items, cash, had pocketed money from the till and refunded store items by falsifying invoices," the OPP said in a news release Friday.
"CCTV recorded most of the fraudulent transactions and thefts."
Police arrested the 48-year-old suspect Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. and recovered more store items.
Charges include seven counts of fraud under $5,000, five counts of falsifying of books and documents and four counts of theft under $5,000.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on Oct. 10.
