A 64-year-old from Sault Ste. Marie has been charged with assault with a weapon and uttering threats.
The charges stem from an incident around 2 p.m. Monday in which police received a report about someone on a bike threatening a child with a knife on Pim Street.
“Officers were dispatched to the area and located the accused, who matched the description of the suspect,” police said in a news release Tuesday.
“The accused was arrested without incident. A subsequent search of the accused found them to be in possession of a pocketknife.”
An interview with the victim revealed that “the accused had brandished the pocketknife while uttering threats at them,” police said.
“No physical injuries were sustained.”
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 12.
