Sault resident finds stranger sleeping in their bed

Gunshots heard in the Sault Ste. Marie's west end About 11 p.m. Friday police got a firearm call at the 400 block of Douglas Street then at 5 a.m. Saturday another report of gunfire.

A 24-year-old suspect has been charged after a resident in Sault Ste. Marie found a stranger sleeping in their bed Wednesday morning.

However, unlike Goldilocks the stranger refused to leave when confronted.

Sault police were called at 12:30 a.m. and told there was an active break-and-enter on Sherbourne Street.

“The caller reported that someone unknown to them had broken into their home and was laying in their bed, refusing to leave,” police said in a news release.

“Officers were dispatched to the residence. Upon arrival, officers located the suspect in the victim’s bed and identified them as the accused. They were arrested.”

The accused is charged with break and enter and failure to comply with a probation order.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 18.
