Sault police seek public assistance with food theft investigation

Sault police and Crime Stoppers ask for help identifying a suspect in a theft at a retail location on Pine Street on February 18, 2025.

Sault police are investigating a theft from a local business last month.

On Feb. 18, a male suspect stole food from a retail location in the 700 block of Pine Street, according to police.

“Store security attempted to stop the suspect and had a case of beer thrown at them,” said officials with Crime Stoppers of Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District in a news release.

Authorities said the value of the food stolen was more than $200.

“The unknown suspect is described as wearing black hat, black pants, black jacket and black sunglasses,” said Crime Stoppers.

Portions of the incident were captured by video surveillance cameras and the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and Crime Stoppers are requesting the public’s assistance with identifying the suspect.

“Do you recognize this individual,” asked Kendra Addison, the Sault Ste. Marie Crime Stoppers program coordinator, in a related online video.
