Police seize cocaine, weapons, charge Sudbury resident with impaired driving

A 38-year-old resident of Garson is facing charges including impaired driving after an incident Sunday in Espanola.

Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of erratic driving on Highway 17 around 12:50 p.m.

“The complainant reported a vehicle driving erratically and police located it a short time later on Centre Street,” an OPP news release said Monday.

“It was determined the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverages. They were subsequently arrested and returned to detachment for further tests.”

Police seized suspected cocaine and two firearms before towing the vehicle.

The suspect is charged with impaired driving, weapons and drug possession. A court date of Jan. 16 has been set in the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola.
