One charged after Sault police seize drugs during a patrol stop

Large drug bust in the Sault in February 2023 A 35-year-old man is facing several charges after Sault police seize almost $25,000 in suspected drugs from an area residence.

A 28-year-old man has been drug-related offences following an incident with Sault police on Friday morning.

“Patrol officers observed a vehicle with stolen licence plates,” said police in a news release.

“Police conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle in the 400 block of Trunk Road and identified the driver as the accused.”

The accused was arrested at the scene shortly after 8 a.m.

“A subsequent search found the accused to be in possession of approximately seven grams of suspected fentanyl, approximately three grams of suspected cocaine, approximately two grams of suspected crack cocaine, approximately four grams of suspected methamphetamine and various drug paraphernalia,” the release said.

The street value of the drugs seized is more than $3,800, police said.

The accused is charged with three counts of drug possession, trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime and failing to comply with a release order.

None of the allegations has been proven in court.

The accused was held pending a bail hearing.
