One charged after motel room destroyed in northern Ont.

Ontario Provincial Police in Blind River say a 42-year-old man has been charged following an incident at a motel on Causley Street early Monday morning.

Police responded at 2 a.m. to a report that “an individual was reportedly causing damage to items inside one of the rooms,” police said in a news release.

“Police arrived at the scene, and during the arrest, the individual resisted. The accused was subsequently transported to the Blind River detachment.”

The accused was served a breakfast sandwich while in custody, which he threw at an officer who entered the cell to speak with him.

The Midland, Ont., incident is charged with mischief/destroying property, assaulting police, resisting police and causing a disturbance.

The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on Monday and was remanded into custody.
