Off-duty OPP sergeant charged in road rage case in northern Ont.

In what appears to be a road rage incident, an off-duty sergeant with the OPP in Temiskaming Shores has been charged with assault.

An Ontario Provincial Police sergeant has been charged with assault in what police are calling a road rage incident March 17 in Temiskaming Shores.

Police responded around 3:40 p.m. to an altercation between two motorists in the community.

An investigation resulted in assault charges for the 54-year-old off-duty sergeant, police said in a news release Wednesday.

“The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury on April 22,” police said.

“The accused is a sergeant with 25 years of service with the OPP assigned to the Temiskaming Shores detachment. He was off duty at the time of the incident.”
