A 55-year-old from Elliot Lake, Ont., has been charged with criminal harassment and mischief following incidents at the victim’s place of work and their residence.

The suspect in the case is the ex-spouse of the victim, police said, who was under release conditions for a separate arrest Jan. 31.

“That person was released on conditions which they later breached,” Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release Monday.

“The same person was arrested again on Feb. 2 after plowing snow around the complainant’s car at their place of work and blocking their driveway at their residence.”

Charges include criminal harassment (including following the victim and conduct considered threatening), mischief under $5,000, mischief that obstructs, interrupts or interferes with any person in the lawful use, enjoyment, or operation of property and failing to comply with an undertaking.

The accused was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice bail court in Blind River on Monday.

“Victims in abused relationships are not alone,” police said.

“If you are in an abusive relationship or know someone who is, there are local resources here to help.
