Transport rollover closes Hwy 144 in Lively A transport driver is being charged with careless driving after a rollover on Hwy 144 off-ramp toward Hwy 17E in Sudbury community of Lively

Sudbury — OPP says a transport driver has been charged with careless driving after a single-vehicle crash on the Highway 144 off-ramp in Lively, headed toward Highway 17 East, Wednesday morning.

Constable Michelle Coulombe says it happened around 5:30 a.m. Feb. 26 when a tractor-trailer rolled over into the ditch.

Police say the driver was the only one in the vehicle and no injuries have been reported.

The commercial vehicle was transporting non-hazardous materials and they are still intact.

A tow truck is on the scene and only the traffic headed east from Hwy 144 south to Hwy 17 is affected.

Hwy 144 is expected to be closed between Regional Road 24 and Hwy 17 all day Wednesday while crews remove the 44,000 lb load from the damaged trailer onto another trailer, as well as the vehicle.

A detour has been set up.

To get to Hwy 17 East from Hwy 144 South, take RR24 through Lively.

Police remind motorists to obey road closure signs or risk a fine.

Correction

OPP originally reported the single-vehicle crash was affecting Hwy 17, but the rollover happened on the Hwy 144 off ramp going onto Hwy 17 east in Lively. Hwy 144 is closed between Hwy 17 and RR24 in both directions.
