House destroyed in Capreol following afternoon fire

Home destroyed by fire in Capreol area of Sudbury WATCH: A home in the Capreol area of Greater Sudbury is a total loss after fire broke out Thursday afternoon.

A house on Clement Street in the Capreol area of Greater Sudbury has been destroyed following a fire Thursday afternoon.

Greater Sudbury Fire Services said it was called out to the home during the 3 o’clock hour to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the property.

Crews are expecting to be on scene all night.

Deputy fire chief Jesse Oshell told CTV News an excavator was called to reach certain areas of the property.

Because a few of the neighbouring properties are close together, some of the homes nearby likely incurred heat damage, Oshell said.

No one was believed to be home at the time and the cause of the fire isn’t being considered suspicious.
