As a result, police have closed Valleyview Road between Evans Road and Fournier Drive, Greater Sudbury Police Service said on social media at 1:20 p.m.

People are being asked to avoid the area.

Deputy fire chief Jesse Oshell said crews have the fire under control.

The blaze began inside a garage where a vehicle was being worked on, but the exact cause has yet to be determined, Oshell told CTVNewsNorthernOntario.ca in a phone interview.

It is not being considered suspicious.

The garage is a complete loss Oshell said.

No one has been injured as a result of the fire.

Because it is a busy road with two nearby schools, police will be performing traffic control.

There is no threat to neighbouring properties or the school.

It may take a couple of hours to extinguish the fire, Oshell said just before 2 p.m.

Because the automotive type of garage contains chemicals and miscellaneous products, there may be environmental impacts as a result of the fire.
