In what must have been a low-speed event, the driver of a slow-moving vehicle was pulled over last weekend in Sturgeon Falls, Ont.
Ontario Provincial Police stopped the low-speed vehicle (LSV) Jan. 25 on William Street in the community.
“The driver was found to be a prohibited driver,” the OPP said in a news release.
“As a result of the investigation, a 35-year-old-person from Nipissing First Nation was arrested and charged with operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code.”
Pilot program
The pilot program for LSVs was launched in 2017 and is to run for 10 years. The vehicles travel a maximum of 32-40 km/h, police said, and can only be used in municipalities that have passed bylaws to allow low-speed vehicles.
“People interested in using an LSV should check with their local municipality to find out if LSVs can be used in their community,” police said.
