There was shock and disappointment in the Greater Sudbury community of Capreol on Saturday morning.
Local legion members and the community had come to the cenotaph for this year's Remembrance Day service to find the memorial had been vandalized.
Serval plaques had been removed from the stone monument.
“Today during our Remembrance Day service we realized that our three plaques off the memorial at the Capreol Cenotaph were missing,” said Laura Dines-Depatie, president of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 179.
“So we're missing the First World War, the Second World War and Afghanistan.”
The legion told CTV News that it is unclear as to when they disappeared or were taken.

“Obviously it is very disheartening to find out especially on Remembrance Day that someone has vandalized our cenotaph in our park,” said city councillor Natalie Labbee, whose ward includes Capreol.
“You know the veterans and everyone in our community is very proud of that monument – the history that it represents for our community.”
She said she thinks it is important to share this news even on a day of reflection.
“We are just very disappointed this has happened,” said Labbee.
“That someone would do this to our community.”
The councillor said she would be filing a police report.
Officials are asking anyone with information to contact police.
