A driver from B.C. is facing a list of charges after an automated licence plate reader alerted police to a stolen vehicle on a northern Ontario highway.

Officers pulled the vehicle over around 11 a.m. March 21 on Highway 17 in Sables-Spanish River Township, more than 90 kilometres west of Sudbury, Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release Tuesday.

Upon further investigation, police charged the 35-year-old man with possession of property obtained by crime, failing to comply with a probation order, refusing to comply with a demand for a breath sample, driving with cannabis and liquor readily available, driving with no licence and failing to surrender the vehicle’s permit and insurance card.

The accused, from Chilliwack, B.C., is scheduled to appear in court in Sudbury on April 9.
