Those in the Montreal-area should avoid travel as a a winter weather advisory is in effect.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) warned that heavy snow could significantly reduce visibility and create difficult driving conditions Monday afternoon and evening.

Laval, Mont-Tremblant, Saint-Agathe, Vaudreuil, Valleyfield and Beauharnois are also affected.

“Snowfall amounts near 10 centimetres are expected over this period. The sticky snow may make roads slippery, complicating travel,” the ECCC said in its advisory.

The agency said poor weather conditions could contribute to transportation delays.

“Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas.”
