Verdun fire forces multiple families from their homes

Montreal firefighters were called to a five-alarm fire Monday evening in the borough of Verdun.

The blaze took place on 4e Avenue near Verdun Street, forcing the evacuation of 18 units.

One firefighter was sent to the hospital for minor injuries.

The Red Cross has taken in some families affected by the flames.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.
