Three EMSB teachers from France facing deportation will be allowed to stay

Three teachers from France, part of a special recruitment program, will be allowed to remain in Canada after facing deportation.

Three English Montreal School Board (EMSB) teachers from France who were facing deportation will now be allowed to stay in the country.

The educators had their visa renewals denied over the winter break, leaving their students without instructors upon their return to class.

The teachers were part of a special recruitment program to address the teacher shortage in French immersion programs.

An EMSB spokesperson told CTV News that the teachers are now expected to be back in the classroom before the end of the month.

The EMSB said the program has been a success and credited the government for working on resolving the situation.
