A suspect has turned himself in to the authorities after a 49-year-old man was stabbed in Montreal’s east end Thursday evening, according to police.
Montreal police said they received a 911 call at 11 p.m. about a man injured by a “sharp object” following an altercation involving several people inside a residence on Baillairgé Street, near Saint-Donat Street in the city’s Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough. The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.
The victim suffered upper-body injuries and was sent to hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening.
Shortly after 12:30 a.m., police got a 911 call from a 48-year-old man who wanted to surrender. He was arrested near the Honoré-Beaugrand Metro station and brought to the police station to be questioned.
Police say the suspect and the victim know each other.
The investigation is ongoing.
