For a second day in a row, an apartment building in Montreal was evacuated due to a fire.
Emergency services responded to a 911 call at around 9:15 a.m. to an apartment fire on Rachel Street East and Cuvillier Street in the Vieux Rosemont neighbourhood.
Montreal fire department (SIM) spokesperson Anik Vaillancourt said the fire started in the kitchen of a first-floor apartment of a three-storey building.
The building needed to be evacuated, forcing 14 people out of their homes to wait in a heated bus while crews put out the blaze.
Vaillancourt said no one was injured and the major damage is confined to one apartment.
The fire department advises residents to avoid the area for the time being.
