The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have dismantled two clandestine synthetic drug laboratories, one in a residence in Saint-Lin-Laurentides, in the Lanaudière region, and the other in a commercial building in Sorel, in the Montérégie region northeast of Montreal.
The investigation led to the arrest of three individuals whose identities have not yet been released. They were interviewed by police and released pending further proceedings.
The operation resulted in the seizure of 1.5 kilograms of methamphetamine and nearly 210,000 tablets of various kinds, the exact nature of which has yet to be determined, but which police believe to be steroids (180,000 tablets), methamphetamines (20,000 tablets) and counterfeit Xanax (8,000 tablets).
They also seized $27,000 in cash, as well as large quantities of chemicals, three tablet presses and other sophisticated equipment for large-scale production.
Two other residences located in Mirabel and Contrecoeur, as well as four vehicles, were searched as part of the operation.
The three suspects face charges including production and possession of controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking.
