The union representing Exo employees working in paratransit will hold a one-day walkout on Thursday.
The strike will take place on March 27, from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.
The union, which is part of the CSN, represents paratransit agents, administrative agents, paratransit coordinators and paratransit planning coordinators.
The Workers Administrative Tribunal has just ruled that the list of essential services be maintained, which was amended. It was sufficient to ensure the health and safety of the public during the strike day.
The tribunal’s ruling on essential services states that “during the strike day, it is understood that only journeys motivated by a ‘health’ medical reason will be maintained; other journeys motivated by other reasons will therefore be cancelled.”
“It is the most vulnerable citizens of 81 small and medium-sized municipalities who rely on Exo’s public paratransit service,” said Administrative Judge Geneviève Drapeau in her decision.
The administrative judge added that “this was a one-day strike and that, in other circumstances, the essential services to be maintained could be different.”
The service makes more than 700,000 journeys a year. Nearly 9,600 users meet the Transport and Mobility Ministry’s eligibility criteria for the service, according to the court’s decision.
