Four people, all in one vehicle, were taken to hospital following a collision on the ramp linking highways 40 and 15 in Montreal early Thursday morning.
According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the lives of two of the victims are still in danger.
The single-vehicle accident occurred at 1:30 a.m. on the ramp from Highway 40 westbound to Highway 15 southbound.
The SQ says the vehicle struck the dividing wall, and all four occupants were seriously injured.
The driver of the vehicle is a man in his 20s.
The passengers, two women and a man, were aged between 18 and 35.
Initial findings suggest that speed may have played a role in the incident.
“A sample kit has been requested from the driver to determine whether or not his ability to drive may have been impaired,” said SQ spokesperson Camille Savoie.
SQ reconstructionists were deployed to the scene to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the event.
