The St. Thomas Police Service has seized multiple weapons following a weapons investigation in the city.

On Thursday evening at around 10:00 p.m., police were called to a residential area in south St. Thomas with reports of a verbal argument between three people.

When officers arrived on scene, they said everyone was calm, cooperative, and the group came to an agreement.

Later on, another call was made to police. Someone reported a knife was used in the altercation.

The STPS arrested a 51-year-old St. Thomas resident, who has been charged with assault with a weapon. An investigation showed the person was on bail conditions not to possess any weapons.

A search warrant was executed on a home, leading to the seizure of multiple large knives, multiple pocketknives, multiple machetes, two cross bows with arrows, a marksman air rifle, and a loaded 9 millimetre handgun magazine.

In addition to the assault charge, the person has been charged with possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.
