People are digging out across southern Ontario with widespread watches and warnings in effect north of London, southern Huron in Perth County under blowing snow advisories, northern Huron and Perth County under a winter weather travel advisory, Grey and Bruce, snow squall warnings.
According to CTV News London Meteorologist Julie Atchison, we’re expecting this to continue through the late afternoon into the evening.
“A streamer has developed right off of Lake Huron and it stretches all the way in through Toronto. Now, under the heaviest part of this localized band of snow, some areas are going to see upwards of 40 centimeters,” she said.
By the time it gets to the east in and around Toronto, just five centimeters is expected, but that will create some tricky travel conditions as we move through the evening.
Wind chills feeling like minus 18 to minus 21 and overnight will still feel like a minus 22.
“As we go out 24 hours, [there is an] intense band of snow that’s moving through central Bruce County by Wednesday morning. It will start to weaken by Wednesday afternoon winding down. Still, lots of sunshine in the forecast as we head over the next few days.”
We will see a day-to-day warming trend temperatures are set to be a bit milder as we head into the weekend.
The cold weather alert issued by the Middlesex-London Health Unit on Monday has now been extended into Wednesday.
