Lots of sunshine continues Thursday afternoon with spring conditions and the temperatures climbing into the double digits in parts of southern Ontario.
According to CTV News London Meteorologist Julie Atchison, we will see increasing cloud cover tonight in advance of a warm front that starts to lift up from the south with the risk of showers by Friday afternoon.
“Now this system will stall out over the Great Lakes and it could bring some significant freezing rain with ice accretion to parts of grain Bruce County, northern Dufferin County in and around Toronto and north of that line,” said Atchison.
The front will set up over southern Ontario, and on the southern side of the front we’ll see heavy showers, periods of rain with the possibility of some thunderstorms on the north side of the front.
“There’s the risk for extended periods of freezing rain and in northern Ontario, the system will materialize as a snowfall,” said Atchison.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement to talk about the potential of this being a multi-day ice storm.
