London police arrested a man related to an arson that took place in the downtown core.
Emergency crews responded to the 300 block of Wellington Street for a working fire on the sidewalk outside a shopping centre on Friday around 12:30 p.m.
Members of the London Fire Department extinguished the fire.
Investigators say they learned that a man had intentionally set the fire before fleeing from the area on foot.
There were no reported injuries.
The suspect male was located and arrested by officers Sunday afternoon in the area of York and Colborne streets.
As a result of the investigation, a 45-year-old London man was charged with the following offences:
- Arson with disregard for human life; and
- Fail to comply with release order.
The damage is estimated at approximately $250.
The accused is expected to appear in London court tomorrow in relation to the charge.
