The second-degree murder trial for Koree Dockstater continued in a London courthouse today with witness testimony, CTV's Nick Paparella reports.

In a London courtroom on Thursday, witness Matthew Riley testified that he had been out with the accused, 34-year-old Koree Dockstater as well as 27-year-old victim Shaniqua Henry on the night that she was found dead.

He said they had been drinking and driving around in Dockstater’s black Chevy Impala on July 19, 2022.

Riley told the court that there was trouble brewing between the two outside his home at 123 Jubilee Road, Chippewas of the Thames First Nation.

He said that Dockstater texted him, “I don’t trust Shaniqua... she said she’s gonna slash my tires.”

A short while later, Riley said that an altercation ensued over money, and Dockstater hit Henry saying, “Shaniqua is struck with a gas can, she blocks it with her arm and pushes Koree over.”

Riley went on to say, “I told them to stop fighting and to cool down.”

He said the victim and the accused eventually drove off together.

However, a couple of hours later when he woke up he went outside to find his friends performing CPR on Henry saying, “I saw her [Henry’s] body by a puddle... I was very emotional... I was hysterical. How did this happen?”

The frantic 911 called was played in court. The court heard the caller say, “She’s not breathing at all... she has a big cut on her arm... Nobody knew she was out there.”

After an autopsy it was determined that Henry died from a stab wound to the heart.

Police investigators would eventually arrest and charge Dockstater with second degree murder. She has plead not guilty.

Before wrapping up Riley told the court that he was yelling at the 911 operator because, “I just wanted them to get there.”

His testimony is expected to resume under cross-examination.
