Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) has confirmed a new measles exposure in the community.

Listowel Memorial Hospital – Emergency Department Waiting Room, 255 Elizabeth St E, Listowel, Sunday, March 23, 7:23 p.m. to 10:31 p.m.

If you were present in the hospital at that time, and are not up to date on your vaccinations, please contact HPPH at 1-888-221-2133 ext. 3299

Southwestern Public Health also issued notices about exposures in the area on Monday.

Exposures were reported at Fred Bodsworth Public Library of Port Burwell, on March 15, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and Straffordville Public Library, on March 15, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., as well as March 17, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Regardless of how briefly you were present in these locations, it is important to monitor for symptoms. Measles is highly contagious and can linger in a room for up to two hours.

The public health unit completes contact tracing for measles, and if it is unable to notify everyone who may have been exposed, a community notice is issued.

Visit your local public health unit to view up to date information about measles in your area.

There are several public health units that have reported exposures over the past two months. Ensure that you are protected and informed.
