A Guelph man has been charged with assault after police said he assaulted another man for throwing snowballs.

Guelph Police Service officers were called to St. George’s Square just after 3 p.m. Thursday. Investigators said a man was throwing snowballs at a youth when another man told him to stop. The two men got into a physical altercation, and the victim was punched and kicked in the head several times.

The victim received cuts to his face and hand but refused medical help.

On Sunday, officers arrested a 41-year-old Guelph man and charged him with assault.
