A man has been charged with robbery after a store manager tried to stop him from stealing a $12 lighter.

Guelph Police Service said they were called to a business near the Woodlawn Road East and Woolwich Street intersection on Dec. 22 just before 1:55 p.m.

They were told the manager of the store had tried to stop a man from stealing a $12 lighter, leading to a physical altercation. The manager said the man spit in their face and ran away.

On March 5, officers found the man downtown around 10:19 a.m. and arrested him.

A 42-year-old man has been charged with robbery.
