Two people have been arrested as part of an investigation into drug trafficking in Waterloo Region.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Offender Management Unit launched the investigation earlier this month and executed search warrants at a home and a business in the Preston area of Cambridge on Thursday.

During the searches, officers seized a sawed-off shotgun, approximately 100 rounds of ammunition, body armour, replica handguns, suspected fentanyl, suspected cocaine, pills and cash.

A 37-year-old Cambridge woman was charged with possession of a Schedule I substance.

A 44-year-old Cambridge man, who is also a federal parolee, was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, unauthorized possession of a firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm and two counts of possession of a firearm or weapon contrary to a prohibition order.
