Man sent to hospital after group of people attack him in Waterloo

A man was sent to hospital after a group of people came up to him and attacked him in Waterloo Wednesday night.

In a release, the Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) said they were called to a reported assault with a weapon near Erb Street West and Caroline Street South at around 7:30 p.m.

They said a man was walking in the area when four people walked up to him. There was a confrontation before the group attacked the man.

WRPS said the victim received multiple injuries with an edged weapon. He was sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspects are unknown and ran away before police arrived.
