The community is mourning the loss of a beloved business leader.
Mike Williamson, the longtime owner of Central Fresh Market in downtown Kitchener, passed away on March 4. His family said he had been fighting “a courageous battle” with cancer.
“Mike’s care extended beyond his store’s walls,” his obituary read. “He treated his employees like family and valued every customer who walked through his doors. Mike believed in the power of community, and he led by example – always with a warm smile, a generous heart and a readiness to help those in need.”
A post on the grocery store’s social media account explained that it will continue to operate under the guidance of the Williamson family and staff members.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on March 13, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Henry Walser Funeral Home in Kitchener. Williamson’s funeral will take place on March 15 at 10:30 a.m.
Donations in Williamson’s memory can be made to the Food Bank of Waterloo Region or the Canadian Cancer Society.
Williamson was 69 years old.
