A Kitchener community centre was closed Thursday due to flooding after a sewer backup.
In a social media post at 4:42 p.m., the city said the Victoria Hills Community Centre shut for the rest of the day so crews could make repairs.
All programs were also cancelled.
In an email to CTV News, the city said the sewer pipes were blocked because toilets in the centre had been clogged with items that were not flushable. They said the flooding that happened as a result was contained to small areas in the facility.
The city said they do not have the cost estimate for the repair but there was no permanent damage done to the centre.
They confirmed the repairs finished Friday morning and the community centre reopened to the public at 9 a.m.
