An animal welfare organization is seeing an unprecedented wave of pet owners looking for support.
In a release on Tuesday, the Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo & Stratford Perth said in just two months, their teams have provided medical care to 120 animals in need and completed more than $16,000 worth of essential veterinary services and vaccinations. They have also helped 1,510 pets by giving supplies to families facing financial strain.
“The overwhelming need for accessible pet care and food is rising alongside the cost of living,” Victoria Baby, the Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo & Stratford Perth’s chief executive officer, said in the release. “We are committed to ensuring that no pet goes without the care they deserve, but the growing demand highlights the urgent need for more resources and support.”
The organization is encouraging pet lovers to consider donating to the Better Together Capital Campaign to help expand their outreach capabilities as the need continues to grow.
