Grand Erie Public Health (GEPH) announced its new acting medical officer of health on Friday.
Dr. Adelle Chang On was the Region of Waterloo’s associate medical officer for the last two years, before accepting the temporary assignment with GEPH.
In a media release, Grand Erie Public Health explained that “[Chang On] completed her specialist training in Public Health and Preventive Medicine at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, where she is also a faculty member.”
They added that “she [also] holds a Master of Public Health from Harvard University in Boston, Massachusetts.”
Chang On is taking over the role from Dr. Malcolm Lock, who passed away at the end of February.
Through the transition between Lock and Chang On, Dr. Ninh Tran with Southwestern Public Health filled in as the two health organizations dealt with the ongoing measles outbreak.
Chang On officially takes over as the acting medical officer of health on Monday.
