New charges have been laid in connection to a March 10 collision that damaged a Highway 403 overpass in Brantford.
A transport truck was carrying an excavator, with its boom raised, when it struck the Wayne Gretzky Parkway bridge. No one was hurt, but debris from the bridge hit a passing vehicle, resulting in a broken windshield. The excavator was also damaged.
After an inspection of the transport, OPP have charged both the driver and the company responsible for the vehicle.
The driver is charged with driving while suspended, operating a commercial motor vehicle with a load not secured as prescribed, as well as having an over-width and over-height load.
The company, who has not been identified, was charged with:
- Permit operation of a commercial motor vehicle with load not secured as prescribed
- Permit over-width load
- Permit over-height vehicle
- Permit unlicensed person to drive a commercial motor vehicle
Highway 403 and the Wayne Gretzky Parkway reopened after an investigation by the Ministry of Transportation.
