16-year-old facing additional charges after multiple Cambridge vehicle thefts: WRPS

A 16-year-old has been laid with more charges in connection to multiple Cambridge vehicle thefts last month.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service said investigators searched a Cambridge residence on Friday after multiple vehicles were stolen while they were warming up between February 4, 2025 to March 5, 2025.

After the search warrant was completed, police arrested and charged a 16-year-old with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property over $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000, disguise with intent, possession of an identity document and possession of a credit card.

Police said the teen was also arrested on three outstanding warrants for robbery, two counts of theft of motor vehicle, failure to comply with a sentence and obstruction of a peace officer. The suspect was held in police custody for a bail hearing.

Initial arrest

On Feb. 4, police were called to the area of Taylor Avenue and Elliott Street in Cambridge at around 6:10 a.m., for a vehicle that was stolen while it was warming up.

Police said they found the vehicle at around 8:30 a.m. near King Street East and Waterloo Street. They arrested one of the people inside, while the second ran away.

A 16-year-old from Cambridge was charged with failure to comply with release and failure to comply with probation.
