The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a nationwide recall for several of Century brand’s tuna products due to undeclared wheat.
In the food recall warning posted on Tuesday, the CFIA said three products from the brand contain undeclared allergens like wheat and gluten. The CFIA says anyone with a wheat or gluten allergy should avoid eating the listed products.
The three products are:
-Light Tuna Flakes in Hot & Spicy Sauce
-Flaked Light Tuna Hot & Spicy Style
-Light Tuna Flakes Hot & Spicy Style
The CFIA says to look for “all codes where wheat is not declared in the list of ingredients.” The warning was originally published on Jan. 24, but a third item was added Tuesday.
The CFIA is asking people to stop serving, using, selling, or distributing the recalled products as consumption of these could cause serious, life-threatening reactions. They can be disposed of it in the trash or returned to the location where they were purchased.
The national recall was triggered by CFIA test results, the warning said. There have been no reactions reported by anyone who’s consumed these products.
A food safety investigation is currently being conducted by the CFIA and could lead to more product recalls.
