A woman is dead after a house fire early Saturday at a First Nation south of Fort McMurray.
Wood Buffalo RCMP said on Monday officers answered the call of a fire at 5:15 a.m. on Saturday in Chipewyan Prairie First Nation’s Janvier community.
Police said in a media release firefighters and other emergency personnel answered the fire call as well and that the single-family house was extensively damaged in the blaze.
Officers and forensic investigators continue to look into the cause of the fire.
Janvier is 100 kilometres south of Fort McMurray and 320 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.
