Wildfires in the Carolinas prompted evacuations in parts of North Carolina and a State of Emergency in South Carolina. The fires have been whipped up by strong wind and low humidity. The region is also coming out of a drier-than-normal winter.

There’s also debris left over from Hurricane Helene six months ago that officials say is providing more fuel to the fires. There are several fires burning; the largest is reported to have burned over three-thousand acres.
A massive hailstorm in Saudi Arabia left piles of snow that looked more like snow drifts. Several centimetres of hail stacked up following severe storms. Elsewhere in the country, torrential downpours caused significant flooding.

The Spanish city of Talavera de la Reina lost a historic bridge in floodwater brought on by a severe storm. River levels rose rapidly and the flow reached one-thousand-cubic-metres-per second. That caused sections of the bridge to collapse. Residents were devastated by the loss of the bridge that dates back to the middle ages.

The storm also brought flooding elsewhere in Spain and wind damage in Portugal. On a positive note, Portugal set a record for wind power production during the storm.
