TELUS World of Science has been cleared to reopen Saturday.

The science centre has been closed since a fire broke out in a mechanical room on Jan. 20 and needed “extensive” cleaning before it could reopen.

Officials on Friday confirmed the centre had passed its environmental testing.

“We’re so excited to reopen and welcome our community back to experience the joy of science,” said TWOSE president Constance Scarlett. “Our team has worked hard to ensure a safe and engaging environment for everyone, and we can’t wait to see the smiles and hear the gasps of amazement as guests return.”

Starting Saturday, TWOSE will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Two areas will remain temporarily closed, the Health Zone gallery and Syncrude Science Stage, however pop-up experiences featuring elements from both have been put together as substitute experiences.

The opening of a new exhibit called “Amazing Pollinators” was also postponed.
