A crash between a school bus and a pickup truck at a highway intersection in Lac Ste. Anne County sent two children and the truck’s driver to hospital, RCMP said Thursday evening.

The vehicles collided at 4:15 p.m. on Highway 43 near Range Road 60, about 30 kilometres southeast of Mayerthorpe, police said in a media release.

They said paramedics took two children from the school bus and the driver of the truck to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Northbound travel on the highway was closed until early evening.

RCMP said the school bus was crossing the highway with eight children on board amid blowing snow and poor weather conditions when the truck hit the rear of the bus, causing it to partially spin.

Mayerthorpe is 118 kilometres northwest of Edmonton.
