A section of every Edmonton Police Commission meeting will be dedicated to giving reports on matters that were discussed in private during standing committee meetings.

The aim is to ensure Edmontonians understand the commission’s work.

Ben Henderson, the chair of the police commission, says important discussions happen in private and that the nature of those conversations should be public knowledge.

“Anything we can do to be transparent in the work that we’re doing on their behalf, I think, is a benefit,” Henderson told media on Thursday.

“We need to bend over backwards to make sure that we take every opportunity to share our work and that people do understand what the commission does.”
