Former Edmonton police employee charged with child luring, making child pornography

A former civilian employee of the Edmonton Police Service has been charged with sexual assault, child luring, and child pornography offences.

A former employee of the Edmonton Police Service has been charged with multiple sex crimes involving a child.

Investigators began an investigation after they received a complaint that a 14-year-old boy had been sexually assaulted by a man he met through SnapChat.

The teen is being supported by the Zebra Child Protection Centre.

The assailant reportedly used the social media name BadLee.

On Thursday, Yasin Cetin, 32, a former civilian employee of EPS was arrested and charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, luring a child under 16, making child pornography, and distribution of child pornography.

He was released with numerous conditions, including not to have contact or communication with anyone under 16 and not to attend any public swimming pools, schools, daycares or playgrounds.

According to a news release, Cetin resigned from EPS on May 31, 2024.

Investigators say Cetin is actively involved in various local and national youth initiatives and they are concerned there may be other victims.
