Youth Empowerment and Support Services (YESS) in Edmonton has received a big donation courtesy of Alberta’s dairy farmers and the Edmonton Oil Kings.
For the third year in a row, Alberta Milk and the Oil Kings have teamed up, contributing $15 for every shot taken by the Oil Kings at a home game.
The money raised, $15,000, will be used to support the purchase of dairy products for YESS youth shelters, resource centres and supportive housing programs.
“We are grateful for the long-standing support from Alberta’s dairy farmers, our partners since 2009 in ensuring Edmonton’s youth in crisis have access to milk and milk products when they need us,” Corey Mowles, YESS president and CEO, said in a news release.
“YESS serves over 1,000 meals a year, thanks in no small part to partners like Alberta Milk. We are also thankful for the Edmonton Oil Kings, as it was their prowess on the ice that achieved these incredible results.”
YESS provides services including emergency shelter, crisis intervention and long term resources for Edmonton’s vulnerable youth.
