Cloudy with some scattered pockets of mixed precipitation in the Edmonton region this morning.
The more organized flurries and wet snow are off in east-central and northeastern Alberta and they’ll continue to push ESE through the morning.
So...no significant precipitation is expected in the Edmonton region this morning and we’ll get some clearing for this afternoon.
It’s Thursday that we’re still watching as a potential “Spring Snow” day.
Afternoon highs will get to the 10-degree range Monday/Tuesday in Edmonton and even Wednesday looks warm (high in the 6 to 9 degree range).
But...an area of low pressure will develop over southern Alberta late Wednesday and we’ll have some cooler air trying to drop in from the north.
That’ll set the stage for some showers turning over to wet snow in NW Alberta late Wednesday and possibly in the Edmonton region Wednesday night.
By Thursday, it looks like mid-level temperatures will be cold enough to support snow and if that IS the case, we could see several centimetres of accumulation by Friday morning.
It’s still a bit early to start talking about potential accumulation totals. That said - this definitely has the potential to be a “significant” snowfall across much of central and north-central AB.
So...more on that in the days ahead as the situation develops.
Daytime highs drop to around the freezing mark for Thursday/Friday/Saturday before rebounding early next week.
Bottom line: Warm temperatures to start the week but prepare for a big cooldown and some snow later in the week.
