The mild spell continues for Edmonton and most of the province.
Temperatures hit a high of 6 C Thursday and should get to the 5 or 6 degree range again today, with even warmer temperatures through the weekend and early next week.
Daytime highs will climb close to 10 in Edmonton on Saturday/Sunday and we’ll be in the 9 to 12 degree range for highs Monday/Tuesday of next week.
Wind doesn’t look like it’ll be a factor in the coming days and for most of those days, we’ll get more sun than cloud.
Today’s a little different story. There’s a trough of low pressure that’ll develop in western AB with some showers and wet flurries this afternoon.
As that system moves east, we get a chance of some mixed precipitation in the Edmonton area late this afternoon and/or tonight. No significant accumulation of snow or moisture is anticipated.
In fact, it’s far from a guarantee that we’ll get anything at all in the city.
The best bet for seeing some precip today and tonight will be through the foothills and then in the Red Deer region late today/tonight.
After that system moves out, the next-best chance for some snow comes late next week as some cooler air dives in.
Daytime highs will drop to around the freezing mark and we’re still eyeballing Thursday/Friday as a chance for some heavier snow in parts of central/north-central AB.
That’s still a long ways off - but the modelling has been very consistent with that outlook for several days now. So, we’ll watch to see how it develops.
